Your humble servant Aventurine at your service.
A senior manager of the IPC's Strategic Investment Department, though I suppose that might as well be on pause. Right now, I'm a senior manager at Phoenix Casino, instead - why don't you stop by sometime during the evening, and you might as well be met with a bunny surprise.
Meet new people, form new bonds, and have fun. Isn't that what everyone comes to casino-resort for?
Glad you asked! Though I'm not sure how much it counts for a talent, I have quite the impressive luck. No matter the gamble, the danger, the puzzle ahead of me - if I bet it all on my "luck", then I know I'll come out of it the winner.
Though if you want actual talents, then you will have to get to know me and find out yourself.
I haven't yet read all the books in the universe, or watched all the movies, or listened to all the songs, or eaten all the food... So it's hard to say I have a proper favorite, isn't it?
Are we finally addressing the elephant in the room? Let's see...
Someone kind, interesting, intelligent, who enjoys a good conversation. Is that too broad? Then perhaps I'm just that easy to charm, haha!
I find wine suits my palate better, but I won't turn down the offer for beer if you'd like.
.02 CLOWNS OR MIMES
No real preference. If they're both meant to entertain, isn't the one who makes me laugh the better one?
.03 SHOWER OR BATH
A friend of mine would stand by a quality bath time, and after spending so much time with him, I've got to say the same!
.04 PIRATES OR NINJAS
Between a group of people known for freedom and rule-breaking, and those bound to loyalty... Is this a question about which I find more interesting, which I would want to be, or which of these sentiments I relate to the most?
.05 TITS OR ASS
Does it really matter, if both have their own appeal? Or rather, perhaps I should say it truly depends on the person.
.06 COFFEE OR TEA
A proper morning starts with a good cup of coffee. It's essential to any corporation worker like me.
.07 SPICY OR SWEET
Though both have their appeals, sweets are easier on my tongue. Perhaps it's hard to let go of my inner child? Haha!
.08 SUMMER OR WINTER
Most of my childhood was spent under the scalding hot sun of the desert, and though I'm quite used to it, I can't help but enjoy the comforting cold of winter nights the most. Besides, sharing a warm blanket with someone isn't so bad of a way to spend a winter day, is it?
.09 LEATHER OR LACE
Each kind of fabric has a time and a place to belong. Leather for something more formal, perhaps even casual. Lace, for a more intimate encounter. But both do suit me, don't you think?
10. ROUGH SEX OR GENTLE SEX
Am I on top, am I on the bottom? Those things are necessary to know for a proper answer. Whether you want me to be nice or not, whether you want to be nice or not... Knowing your partner's preferences is what matters the most, isn't it?
ESTJ-A

lust is birds overflow ↓
→ esikko;
( of course esikko would go with truth or dare. how truthful can truths truly be with them? perhaps that's something for them to discover, in this game they will play.
and it wouldn't be aventurine if he weren't looking forward to it. )
I wonder if the staff will be ok with you damaging their pods? ( you, not us. subtleties that he doesn't mind if esikko notices. ) But I accept these terms. They're quite like you.
( again... hand gestures, as a compliment or an insult. aventurine doesn't really mean much by it. )
Then if the princeling would like to go first. I'll pick truth.
→ nehan;
( no rule about not answering a question!! he's only playing their game :)
besides. he thinks it's fun when he's called out for it. means the other person is paying attention to what he does, and they aren't so affected by his interrogation. it's always more interesting, when he meets someone that smart. )
Is that the kind of person you think I am? ( an answer in itself.
a sentiment he can relate, though, yet the coping method seems to be all too different. not much to lose, but isn't their own life the last thing they have to lose? )
Some are more willing than others. The truth is, you can go as long as you want without giving in. But that's easier done when you have someone you trust with you.
( truth or a lie, nehan can figure that out. )
no subject
he treats this as a rhetorical question—it stands as its own answer. as lighthearted as this aventurine's responses have been, he's not the straightforward type—he's indirect and breezy enough that if nehan weren't so guarded, he might mistake him for careless.
instead, he scoffs lightly. trust. as though it's that easy, in a pit full of strangers. ]
Is that so? And you're someone fortunate enough to have people you trust here?
[ just because he's not getting good answers doesn't mean he can't keep asking questions... ]
no subject
topaz has been with him ever since they first arrived, one of the very few people he does well and genuinely trust, but all this time he had felt far less fortunate that she's around and more sorry for her that this is something she has to put up with. it's just better if he's the one to shoulder it.
and then there's - a particular stranger who pushed past enough walls, defied enough odds, and now falls under the small list of people aventurine trusts, but still. it's always just different when he's involved. blessed in a curse as he is.
ask enough questions and you just might find the one to really make aventurine think. )
Is it fortunate to be here? ( deflecting, etc, somehow. question for a question. you know the drill. ) You'll find that people tend to come together when they're forced into the same unpleasant situation, and that sparks trust and dependency in each other. Do you think it's so impossible it might happen here too?

(:
→ marco;
( aventurine doesn't answer that question when it comes, because the mirror is talking back to him, and he doesn't quite like it. a purpose... can that even be said to him, ipc employee and all? it's more than known that the company isn't the most noble in its efforts, despite the promise to help others.
does he even have a purpose to the ipc, as a chip they can use and reuse and discard whenever they see fit? does it make a difference? )
It's a vacation, ( because there's no such thing as respite with ankles around his feet, still ) and I don't find it so terrible. The House may force some ( unpleasant ) interesting situations upon us, but we have a roof above our head, food is accessible ( albeit spiked, ) and money comes easily. That's more than a lot of people have, isn't it?
no subject
The people have all been nice and understanding, too. [ well? if they're going to fall back on platitudes, why not go all out? ]
I hope that's been your experience, at least.
no subject
( he would have a lot more remorse in his heart if that was the case, even if aventurine can't truly channel the energy to feel any sort of hate - not yet, not when it's buried deep within. )
Well, for the most part, at least. ( because you can't pay aventurine to hold a conversation about his feelings, of course, and it's easier to shift the mood if he keeps on talking. ) The basement levels might be disagreeable to some, but there's a bed nonetheless. But when we're pitied against a common foe, it's human nature to help one another, isn't it?
( and well, one way or another, having sex with your fellow guests is a way to help, but that's the way the house wants them to think. there's something else there, too, of a kinder and more compassionate nature. )
Don't grow too comfortable, though. The House built a safe haven, but a cage is a cage no matter the comfort provided. But you don't need me to tell you that, do you?

→ wei wuxian;
Hahah, you will find that most people don't mind that at all. You might even be able to find someone who understands you more than you think.
( not that he would know (he would). it's an uncomfortable little thing, despite the... reassurance, perhaps. feelings aventurine himself doesn't understand.
he has always been ostracized, after all. none of his experiences mattered - or rather, many of them were justified, all in light of being sigonian. so how could he ever truly relate to people? how could anyone else understand? )
Tell me more about yourself, then. What did you use to do before this? Surely that's not so hard a question.
no subject
But it feels... all too soon for that, a little too scary. He doesn't know enough about the people here and who they are. Doesn't know if he wants to do that. So, he just laughs, because that is what he is good at doing. ]
Now that, that would be interesting!
[ Right though, the question. More about himself, huh... ]
Before I arrived here, I was traveling around with my friend and my donkey. Just going where the chaos blooms and helping people with their problems. Before that, well, nothing really too interesting there.
[ He was dead. So. Hm. ]
I know most people here have jobs and the like but I guess my job is "cultivator"? Though it doesn't really pay either...
no subject
there's something interesting, he finds, in a job he doesn't recognize. it's not so out of left field, not in a place that transports people from all over the universe into a single resort, but the ipc's reach is extensive, much too so. and though aventurine is sure some of the higher-ups would be interested in knowing more for all the more ulterior motives, his own curiosity is much simpler.
at least up to the point where he starts wondering how far the ipc's reach has gotten to him, either way. and though wei wuxian cannot see, aventurine leans forward all the same. )
I haven't heard of that before, ah - unless you mean something like cultivating crops? Like a farmer?
( farmer wwx who plants his not-son... maybe aventurine isn't so far off )
(no subject)
→ leona;
And there's no harm in that. Would you believe me if I said the same?
( because it's always tricky with aventurine. what does his voice and demeanor say, to a man who cannot see him, despite their single meeting... many moons ago... springtime was truly a whole year ago, huh. still, for all that it would almost seem as though aventurine is being honest, the catch is that few people tend to believe anything he says, anyway.
treacherous sigonians, etc. he's used to it. )
no subject
[ he says that with the kind of confidence that comes from not seeing this man for a full ass year after last spring! but seriously, he's not one to quickly trust someone and their words and also let's be real, aventurine doesn't exactly exude that brand of believable aura. he's got a completely different kind. ]
But would you go about doin' that?
[ at least leona is willing to change his mind. he's flexible. ]
no subject
If the words of a stranger have so much value to you, then finding more connections isn't so troublesome a thing to you, is it?
( it's... not a diss? or shade? but maybe he's just pointing out a hypocrisy, allegedly, if what leona says is true, anyway. )
But I do believe quantity is not in numbers. The more people you keep close to your heart, the more likely it is to watch it break.
( unfortunately spoken from experience, whether he's trusted or not. )

( the thing is, the ipc absolutely had gossip. maybe not that kind of steamy gossip - a lot of them were far too busy for that -, but he wouldn't be surprised if it ever happened. topaz, for example; she's adored by many of her subordinates, and even people not part of their department. if they ever found out she has spent this long in a sex casino...
again, he wouldn't be surprised at all if some people got upset or even angry at him for sleeping with her. what the eyes don't see the heart doesn't feel. )
I suppose it's part of human nature to gossip, and it's hard to avoid your feelings, isn't it? That's why the House can control us as well as they do. ( just saying. even aventurine himself isn't exempt from that. ) But at the same time, don't you think we all understand the situation we're in? Making enemies of each other is a foolish endeavor. Much easier to share a single enemy, isn't it?
( not that he's speaking from experience or anythingggggg.... you know. )
no subject
You're here longer than I have, so I'll bow to your knowledge.
[ He sighs, surrendering the argument, if it can even be called as such. He just figured Aventurine knows more than he does and thought nothing else of it. ]
Got any advice to a new arrival?
no subject
( and he will not elaborate further, of course. instead, he hums in thought. advice... is there even sound advice to be given in a place like this? )
Make friends. You will need those. For the cards, and for your sanity. Ah, but that depends on how you view attachment, anyway. Knowing that there will come a day where you will have to leave the people you've met here behind, or that they will leave and never come back... Are you ready for such a thing?

( truly liking someone who lied to him upon first meeting... maybe kirma's instincts are a little wicked, but it worked out in the end, somehow. surely - surely it's not all that bad. surely it won't end up a warning, and kirma just couldn't tell his instincts right. surely—
don't think about it. even with how long it has been, it's still so hard to allow himself this fleeting happiness. this kind of selfishness and, the blood he has on his hands... he had sought the preservation to prevent it from happening again. it would be fine, this time.
hopefully. )
Oh? But now I'm curious. What else would you say to make me interested? Maybe I'm just here to be flirted with by a handsome man.
( he's teasing /pos... since his hand is hovering over the button. hard to stay away too long from someone you l*ve so much, isn't it? )
hi i'm coping with the loss of my potd file
( joking, of course... not quite roleplaying, but somewhat going along with this whole lust is birds idea. it still feels silly— like if he misspeaks, aventurine would turn away from him— but logically, that's not a consequence that makes any sense.
maybe it's just the barrier between them. much of these doubts had been put to rest for months now; normally there would be the added reassurance of his smile. )
You know, there's one other thing about that dream... ( before they move on. perhaps related to how they move on? ) At the time, you were in my lap, but by now I think I'd rather be in yours.
this header aged like wine then it got turned into milk i think
but also. :shockedmonkey: there's- well. maybe the partition and blind date are good, actually, if it makes kirma saying something like that... or rather, it's the inability of being able to do something about it that is really the appeal, huh. he wouldn't so much doubt kirma's honesty in matters like this, but there's just something to it that really makes aventurine want to press that button.
at least he can confidently say he would definitely be interested in said stranger, were they strangers at all. )
Dreaming of a stranger in your lap? I really am lucky to have caught your interest.
( tail wagging and all. he's even leaning forward in interest. it's a good thing(?) aventurine has such good self-control, otherwise that button would've long been pressed. )
Now I'm curious, though. If you were in my lap right now, what would you do?
in the end i did in fact lose it and i am in fact coping

( it's with that taste of a better life, of a different kind of jailing freedom that the house manages to keep people in this resort. but a cage is a cage no matter what, regardless of how comfortable it may be. it's not proper reality, and if it's not, then what does it matter? )
Then we may enjoy it while we can. Who knows when we will have this many days off from our jobs. ( ... ) And at least, we will have the memories with us. Sometimes that's all we can really afford, isn't it?
Re: → topaz;
She takes a deep breath, trying to keep her feelings from bleeding through in her tone. ]
Yeah. That sounds reasonable.
→ rokurou;
( he'll give it to him, though. out of all of aventurine's blind dates so far, this one really does feel like a date. which means - it's treading a very thin line between comfort and discomfort. )
That's quite the large family you have. Are you close with them? ( must be...... nice............................ but it certainly does explain a lot.
and as per aventurine fashion, no answer of his own; this one he doesn't so much answering, which means he's doing it to tease him. that's what a date is like, isn't it? )
no subject
We got along for the most part. Four of my brothers are dead now, and it's... complicated with my eldest brother. My mother died when I was pretty young, but I do remember that she was strict. Used to make sure I sat properly by strapping a plank of wood to my back. I don't remember my father.
[ He raises his cup to his lips, nostalgic. ]
My clan is... was, very unique. It taught me to appreciate the moment, and the memories they create. All things are ephemeral. [ he adds, cheekily, ] Like our date. Tell me more about you, alright? Anything at all. Or is this your way of making me beg? Haha~
no subject
understanding. being able to relate to someone and, finding that other people relate to him, too. something that doesn't keep him so alone. )
... I had a sister, ( and his voice starts quiet and choked, where there's clear hesitation in his tone, ) older. She was overprotective of me, but always spoiled me. Few were the times she scolded me, but it was always within reason.
( like the one time he was six and went to a cannibal camp by himself. guess one could say he truly was lucky to come out of it alive. )
My mother died when I was pretty young too, and I don't remember my father either. He died before I was born. ( mimicked words, so rokurou can see the similarities about as well as aventurine does. ) And my clan, they— We were really united. We had to help each other out due to our circumstances, and it was impressive that they still managed to keep such a positive outlook in life.
( and because aventurine has never truly talked about his past like this before, of course, a little deflecting is a must, as insincere as it sounds - ) That's a lot about me already, isn't it? Though I wouldn't have minded hearing you beg.
