A senior manager of the IPC's Strategic Investment Department, though I suppose that might as well be on pause. Right now, I'm a senior manager at Phoenix Casino, instead - why don't you stop by sometime during the evening, and you might as well be met with a bunny surprise.

Glad you asked! Though I'm not sure how much it counts for a talent, I have quite the impressive luck. No matter the gamble, the danger, the puzzle ahead of me - if I bet it all on my "luck", then I know I'll come out of it the winner.

Though if you want actual talents, then you will have to get to know me and find out yourself.

I haven't yet read all the books in the universe, or watched all the movies, or listened to all the songs, or eaten all the food... So it's hard to say I have a proper favorite, isn't it?

Most of my childhood was spent under the scalding hot sun of the desert, and though I'm quite used to it, I can't help but enjoy the comforting cold of winter nights the most. Besides, sharing a warm blanket with someone isn't so bad of a way to spend a winter day, is it?

Each kind of fabric has a time and a place to belong. Leather for something more formal, perhaps even casual. Lace, for a more intimate encounter. But both do suit me, don't you think?

Quick and precise, good. But you don't think people might be withholding information, or lying about the amount of people involved? Or, for example, I wasn't at the scene of the murder at all, but I was with the victim when they revived. These are all possible possibilities, aren't they?

The only person who benefits from changing the events is the murderer or an accomplice to the murder.

( because this needs to be specified. it's about the same sentiment he had, when aventurine sworn the stonehearts' oath of treasuring his cornerstone with his own life. he certainly didn't exactly lie about that.

But I did not. Neither was I the murderer, of course. So what's left?

[ her eyes narrow as she hunts for traces of past violence on him a healing scratch, something. Not a witness, not the murderer... so he was the victim. She doesn't have to say it out loud. She doesn't want to. ]

( oof. well. the weird, quick pain in his chest is certainly uncomfortable in response to her reaction, and he knows that is hardly a good sign. )

People do certainly call me such. But that's what I do, isn't it? Risk-chaser, always betting all or nothing at all. There was only one way to find out the answer we all wanted to know.

( and if it means putting his life right on the line for that answer, he would gladly do it. )

But I'm here, aren't I? Which means I won my gamble, as I always do.

[ his casual talk about what others have said about him makes her irritation grow. These are the traits in him that she finds frustrating. And to consider this a win? That adds fuel to the fire. What could he have done if he lost?

Selfishly, she panics, only to immediately recognize her own selfishness. ]

I am. ( he's not, but that's the point.

because lying has a side-effect, one of the 'penalties' he got from dying. the feeling, this time, starts on his right arm, and aventurine strips off the right side of his lab coat to show it to topaz. sure enough, against the pale of his skin, there's heart-shaped rashes growing slowly. )

I'm not, which could mean they don't care whether people die or not, but there's more consequences to the victim than the murderer. That would only make people more willing to engage in violent acts anyway, so figures the House enjoys it somehow. Well, getting rashes whenever I lie is pretty inconvenient, so I can't say it makes me very enthusiastic to try again.

[ a punishment for lying? On one hand it's unfair but she's also got enough IPC dickishness in her to find this a little amusing. Like karma. Abusing it has so much potential, but she draws the line at laughing at his expense.

It is. Figures the House just wanted to laugh at me, considering my modus operandi.

( - he lies, again. aventurine can tell the rashes have grown worse from that, his skin burning and uncomfortable, but even then, he does not scratch at it. )

Other than that, it's hardly different from Penacony. ( a half-lie, in part, because he had gone through unbearable pain before he died here, whilst none of his attempts back in penacony truly hurt at all, ) The doctors and nurses tried to convince me I didn't actually die, and that I was just close to it, but I know they're lying. Which just means the House isn't actively trying to stop people from dying, but they look down on it about as much as the Family does.

( who would ever truly have thought that the house and the family share any sort of similarities, huh. )

And as far as I know, my killer suffered no punishment for it whatsoever.

[ As he continues to downplay what happened, again and again, the furrowing of her brows deepens and the line of her lips becomes harder. Nothing about that is okay. He died. Isn't that horrible?

Is he really that unaffected? He isn't telegraphing any signs in his expression or body language that he was traumatized.

His killer getting away with their crime is frustrating, unacceptable. ]

So they'll allow any indulgence.
